It isn’t always the miner that gets the gold.
More than 300,000 people fled to California back in January of 1848 when James W. Marshall found the first gold at Sutter’s Mill deep in the hills of Coloma, California.
News spread quick. Only some struck it rich with gold, but others saw even more opportunity.
Jacob W. Davis designed denim jeans to sell to the people that needed durable pants to get down in the trenches and mine for gold. The rest is kind of history.
We designed this men’s denim, an all-denim version of our Over Winter Power Layer Denim, as a salute to Jacob and to the people that came to the Northern California Bay Area to make a better life for themselves.
A tribute to those of you who climb, swim, strive and work a little harder each day.
